The Man, The Beard, The Old Interview

Back when I wrote for a different website I was asked to write some interview questions for a celebrity that was about t
o come to town.  I didn't think that I would actually get my horrible questions answered but to my surprise I did.  The celebrity was comedian, Zach Galifiniakis and since I will probably never get another interview with a star I will just repost this one evey other year.  Zach has two new movies about to come out, (The Hangover, G-Force: watch the trailers at end of article) so I thought this would be the perfect time to post the interview.

Plus, posting a celebrity interview might give this blog some esteeem, or this whole interview could be the property of my old website and I may get sued.  But, as I always say, "You know you have made it when you get your first lawsuit!"

Some of yo
u might remember Zach from the the snowboard comedy movie Out Cold. He was the character with a bushy beard that got his man-dangle stuck in the hot tub jets. His other movie titles include Bubble Boy, Corky Romano, and Heartbreakers. You may have also seen him on such critically acclaimed TV shows as Boston Common, Late World with Zach, and Dog Bites Man.

Now it's time to witness my great interview skillz... Enjoy!

BRAD ASS
: Who or what would you credit the most with giving you your sense of humor? (family, comedians, etc.)

Zach: It is a combination of things for me. My family is quite entertaining and humor was a very important element of the family. My brother and sister are both funnier than I am. We used to do skits as kids about the Iran Contra Affair and lip sync Earth, Wind and Fire songs. I also think that some people have a way of thinking that can be specific. Some have a mathematical way of thinking for instance and some have a mind more suitable for humor.

BA: So, when did "Chubby Jesus" realize that he had made it and could make a career out of comedy?

ZG: It is actually "Fat Jesus" - I take offense to "Chubby Jesus" because that implies that I am merely only chubby. I am not sure when I realized that I could make a career out of it. I am always of the mind that it could go away though.

BA: I know the writers strike is horrible for the industry and costing everyone lots of money, but I am kind of excited because I feel like we should see the wittiest picket signs ever created. But then again, if they are on strike from writing then they couldn't even write picket signs, so I guess all the signs would have to be blank. Anyways, has the strike effected you and your current/future projects, if so then how?

ZG: I took place in The Extra Strike of '87. I couldn't tell if they were real strikers or extras. Everyone in the entertainment business is affected by the strike. It is sad for Hollywood or as I like to call it "The Shat Factory."

BA: Speaking of current projects I hear you are currently filming a new movie. Care to explain what its about and what character you portray?

ZG: It is a large big budget film- with talking guinea pigs. It is one of the most anticipated talking guinea pig movies of the past 6 years. I play a scientist who teaches the guinea pigs how to talk. It is a kid movie.

BA: I have two cups of coffee besides me, one being very old and freezing the other new and warm. I just sipped the wrong one (cold one) and spit up on my shirt. I will return after I steal a new shirt from the marketing department.

(5 minutes later)

BA: Alright I am back.

ZG: I just took my shirt off.

BA: About a year ago I stumbled on to one of my favorite YouTube clips. Its the music video you and Fiona Apple made to her song "Not about Love." I guess I enjoy it cause we are just use to seeing her as a serious poet and artist and its just nice to see her fooling around with self proclaimed chubby Jesus that is not sure if he knows how to pronounce his own last name. I think there is a questions here somewhere. Ummm... how did this video come about?

ZG: She lives in my neighborhood. We hang. She saw a music video I did for an Anita Baker song. She asked me to do her next video. We shot it at my house.

BA: Thank you for your time.

ZG: Many, many thanks.
